Plymouth Labour Manifesto Nearly Ready

Despite the snow and ice Labour members from across Plymouth met this morning to finalise the Party’s 2010 City Council election manifesto. It is expected that the General Election will be held on the same day as Plymouth’s City Council elections scheduled for Thursday 6 May 2010.

I’m tired of party’s that spout soundbites and spin in their manifestos – that’s why I’m really pleased that we’ve avoided the usual jargon to draft a document that presents our ideas and vision for Plymouth clearly and concisely. Plymouth’s Tory Council have ignored all the commitments they made when they were elected such as not selling CityBus and they need to be held to account. Our manifesto will highlight Tory errors but, more importantly, it will say what Labour will do differently and present a positive agenda for our city.

The session today is part of a longer process of engaging with people on the doorsteps as well as speaking to local members so that everyone has a say. You can watch a video of our first manifesto session here.

If you have any views on what Labour should include in the manifesto we’ll be finalising the text over the next couple of weeks so get in touch.
