Another reason to vote for Helen

helen3

There’s a great article by Helen Eassom, Labour’s Candidate in the Ivybridge Filham by-election on the brilliant People’s Republic of South Devon blog. Please take a moment to read it.

The main thrust of Labour’s campaign in Ivybridge has been to oppose the incinerator and highlight that the Tories are in charge of the search for an incinerator behind the scenes no matter what they are saying in public. But Helen raises another good issue – why should it be that Ivybridge is mainly represented by middle-aged white men? Let’s shake local politics up a bit and elect a young woman who will fight the incinerator. Vote Helen on 18 February.

Helen has lived in Ivybridge for most of her life, attended the Community College and is currently working in the ward as well as studying for a Masters Degree at the University of Exeter. Like me, she’s also a member of the Co-operative Party and is the Co-Op Party’s Youth Delegate for the South West. She’s a real fighter and would make a first-class councillor for Ivybridge.

The Ivybridge campaign day starts today from 2pm meeting outside Ivybridge Town Hall for mass-leafleting and doorstep work. Can you help us?
