Today Luke was confirmed as a member of the Transport Select Committee for this Parliament. Luke will join MPs from across the Conservative, Scottish National and Democratic Unionist Party as it begins its work next month. The committee’s chair is Labour’s Lillian Greenwood MP.

Luke has welcomed the much delayed Government shipbuilding strategy as a chance for Devonport to build modules for warships again. Included in the strategy is an announcement of five new light frigates called Type 31e frigates. Luke has raised concerns in the Commons that the weaponry on the Type 31e Frigates will not give the UK the military requirements it needs.

A week ago on Friday, Luke Pollard MP delivered on one of his election pledges and hosted The Plymouth Brexit Summit. The event was held at Plymouth University's Sherwell Centre and saw over 160 delegates come together from Plymouth's political parties, businesses and community organisations to discuss what Brexit means for Plymouth and what a good Brexit deal will look like. The results will soon be published and will include a set of clear asks for Luke to take to parliament to use as his guide throughout the Brexit process.
