GB get the Gold as the Blukip Council pulls funding

On the same day as Team GB's women's hockey team wins GOLD, Plymouth's Tory and UKIP council pull funding for a new hockey pitch for Plymouth.

One of the last acts of the Labour Council was to seal the deal for the new hockey pitch. It will be used by hockey clubs across the city and be a real boost for sport in Plymouth.

Countless people have worked tirelessly campaigning for a new hockey pitch. I'm a hockey player, albeit a retired and often unfit one, and I know how much difference a good pitch makes.

The Tory and UKIP council is weak and can be forced to change their mind to properly fund this hockey pitch. Keep the pressure up on them - that is what the Labour Group on the City Council and I will be doing.

On the very day we celebrated Team GB's hockey success even the Tories and UKIP should realise that pulling funding for a new hockey pitch is a bad idea. Even the Tories...let's remind them of that.
