Luke standing up for Plymouth's fishing industry

Last week Luke visited Plymouth Fisheries at Sutton Harbour to speak to people who earn their living from fishing and to hear their views about Brexit.

There are nearly 1,000 jobs in Plymouth that depend on fishing. It is vitally important that we get a good Brexit deal for Plymouth's fishing community.

Luke says:

"Plymouth's fishing industry is a real success story but to protect the livliehoods of everyone who working in fishing we must get a good deal from Brexit for fishing. The Government is already getting itself confused about the details of fishing. I'm very concerned to hear about the mis-steps the Government has taken so early in the process about the London Convention. We need clarity from Government about inshore waters, quota levels and a guarantee that the incomes of our fishing industry will not be traded away so Government can get a deal on another sector elsewhere in the country.

If elected on 8 June I'll be inviting Plymouth's fishing community to participate in the Plymouth Brexit Summit so they can have their voice heard loud and clearly. If elected on 8 June I'll stand up for Plymouth's fishing communities and help them get the good Brexit deal they deserve."
