As a mark of respect for all the victims of the Manchester attack all Plymouth Labour campaigning has been suspended today.
My first thoughts are with the families of all those who have lost loved ones or have been injured. It's hard to believe that a concert full of children would be targeted in a terror attack.
I know Manchester well. It's a city full of passion, energy and community. The way the people of Manchester responded to the attack with open arms and compassion proves that terrorism will not win there or anywhere.
Terrorists seek to divide us, promote division, fear and hatred. Coming only a few days after we remembered Jo Cox, her words are again fitting: there is more that unites us than divides us.
Plymouth stands shoulder to shoulder with Manchester today. Today isn't the day for politics. It's a day for family, friends and loved ones. Stay strong, Plymouth.
Plymouth Labour's office will be open all day today for tea, solidarity and conversation.
