South West forgotten again

Today the Government is making a big noise about pushing ahead with HS2. Nowhere is there any news about funding a new trainline for the south west. Nowhere is there any mention of when the Tories will publish the report into re-opening Plymouth Airport.

The South West of England has been forgotten again. Forgotten by the Tory government that funds every other region better than our's. And forgotten by the army of Tory MPs who represent our region who have forgotten their job is to stand up for jobs in the south west and get us the trainline line we deserve.

During the General Election Johnny Mercer, the now Tory MP for Plymouth Moor View, had a good idea. He promised that if elected he would not vote for another transport scheme anywhere else in the country until Plymouth got the airport and trainline it deserved. That, of course, was a massive fib, now deleted from his website but the idea is a good one.

So here is my challenge to the army of Tory MPs who represent our region. The Government has a slim majority of just 8 at the moment. Withhold your vote until the Government commits to fund a new fast and resilient trainline for the south west and commits to re-open Plymouth airport. If they were to do this, the Government would be paralysed. They have incredible power, but they choose to sit on their hands, doing nothing.

Plymouth deserves better. And we deserve a decent trainline and a decent airport.
