Our NHS staff are doing an amazing job in the face of harsh cuts, privatisation and needless reorganisations.
This call by Philippa Davey, a Labour councillor in Stoke ward, is spot on. Theresa May should visit Derriford to see just how desperate the NHS is for more funds.
Doctors, nurses and NHS staff in Plymouth are working their socks off to support patients. Those providing social care in our city are working their socks off to support the elderly and vulnerable but mounting cuts voted for by our local Tory MPs is causing a crisis in our NHS and in social care.
I know from my own personal experience just how vital the NHS is, how hard working and dedicated the staff are and how much I, and my family, rely on them. This is the time for us to stand up for the NHS. I want to see our local Tory MPs not turn a blind eye to this crisis in our health service. They need to take action and demand better funding for the NHS. They should not vote for any further cuts in the NHS, any further privatisations or sell offs and they should reverse their cuts to local council budgets on social care.
The Government is prioritising tax cuts for corporations ahead of properly funding the NHS. It is time they thought again.
