The south west needs a new fast and resilient rail line. During the election the Tories promised to back our rail upgrade.
They made a lot of noise about how much they were behind the south west's rail ambitions. But less than a year into the new Parliament the money simply isn't there and their promises look hollow. And worse of all we are nowhere nearer getting a new rail line.
The Tories have failed to fund a study into rail upgrades. If there is no money for a study how will we afford a new rail line? And if there is no money for rail upgrades how will the south west get faster and more resilient rail journeys?
The truth is that the mis-management of Network Rail and Tory cuts means that the promises the Tories made to the south west are proving to be worthless.
Why aren't Plymouth's Tory MPs raising hell in Parliament at this betrayal of the south west? Why aren't they demanding action?
Well done to Plymouth Labour's Tudor Evans for standing up for our city. Another reason why we need to have Labour re-elected in May's local elections.
