• New community self-build project for homeless veterans in Honicknowle
• City Council and Alabare Christian Community Support is looking for veterans to volunteer to help build the homes

After the success of George House, the self-build project for homeless veterans, in Millbay, Plymouth is doing it again. This time the project is at Stirling House in Honicknowle.

In a joint partnership between the City Council and Alabare Christian Community Support, new homes for veterans will be built and they’re looking for veterans to help with the building project. This is open to tri-service veterans and is a real opportunity to learn new skills and build homes for veterans.

Starting in Honicknowle in January 2021, the self-build for veterans will help veterans build their own home.  It will provide the right training, support and challenge to help these veterans get back to work and to live an independent and fulfilled life.

Luke Pollard, MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport said:

Having seen the life-changing work of the project in Millbay, I know getting involved with veteran self-build can be transformative and positive. Working on a project like this, alongside other veterans, is good for mental health, good for employment, good for securing a decent new home.
