Each month Luke holds Zoom ’roundtables’ – informal discussions that are held remotely and which look at a different areas or issues in our city.  The focus of the next discussion will be Holiday Hunger in Plymouth.

As Luke is sure you will agree, the government need to extend the provision of free school meals across the summer holidays. There is too much food poverty in Plymouth, and this is because there is too much poverty. There is more than enough food for families to eat three healthy meals a day, however the problem is that many families cannot afford to buy food.

This country should not be one where feeding hungry children is an issue that needs to be fought for. Luke hopes to bring together relevant stakeholders from across Plymouth to discuss how local organisations have been handling these issues and how they plan to support children in poverty over the summer holidays, as well as how he might be able to help through his work in Parliament.

Having already hosted physical round tables called ‘Pastries & Politics’ prior to the pandemic on a range of topics including cycling, tourism and mental health, these monthly virtual roundtables are designed to remotely bring together interested stakeholders to discuss, debate and share ideas on a host of subjects that are important to Plymouth.
