All EU citizens must register by 30 June

The deadline to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme is in just over two weeks, on Wednesday 30th June.

All EU citizens, even those born in the UK or who have lived here for many years, need to apply for settled status. To find out if this applies to you, or to complete your registration, please click this link to the Government website.

The Government has drawn criticism for its decision to impose a hard deadline by which settlement must be applied for. In a post on his Facebook page, Luke Pollard MP said:

“I’m not a fan of how the Government has handled this. There should have been better communication, clearer instruction on how to register, and no harsh deadline set for people to apply. There should be non-IT options available for those who do not have internet access. I would like to have seen an extension to the registration deadline, in light of the serious gaps people are experiencing accessing support and advice.

But the fact remains that any EU citizen living in the UK, even those who were born here, need to register for settled status before next Wednesday.”

The Government has provided a five step guide to ensuring everyone is registered who needs to be. Anyone living in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport constituency who needs further help is invited to email luke.pollard.mp@parliament.uk or call 01752 717255.
