Luke Pollard MP said:

“I’m really proud to publish the agenda for this Friday’s 2018 Plymouth Brexit Summit at Plymouth University. I wanted to make the Summit as inclusive as possible, that’s why I have organised a series of interactive panels and Q&A sessions, alongside high profile speakers giving us the view from Europe, Westminster and the far South West.

“The theme of this year’s summit is ‘How Prepared is Plymouth for Brexit?’ With so much uncertainty around our exit from the EU, this summit will give Plymouth the chance to discuss the detail of Brexit rather than rehearse the same old Brexit soundbites.”

“As well as political leaders from our region, Europe and Parliament, we will be hearing from key local stakeholders from Plymouth’s and the wider region’s businesses, trade bodies, trade unions, industries and the Universities including Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Citybus, Devon Chamber of Commerce, Brittany Ferries and many more.

With negotiations almost over, it’s vital we understand how prepared our city and our region is for Brexit. I don’t trust the Government to put Plymouth’s interests first, just look at the state of our transport links and investment compared to London. Whether you voted leave or remain, we all want a good Brexit deal for Plymouth. Come along and tell our city what your company, organisation or group needs from Brexit and how prepared you think we are. Tickets are still available and are free.”

What is the Plymouth Brexit Summit?

Following the success of the 2017 Plymouth Brexit Summit, Luke Pollard, MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, will host the 2018 Plymouth Brexit Summit on Friday, 7 September at the University of Plymouth, Roland Levinsky Lecture Theatre from 9.30am – 3.30pm.

The theme of the 2018 Plymouth Brexit Summit is ‘How Prepared is Plymouth and the far South West for Brexit?’. With the possibility of the UK crashing out of the EU without a trade deal, Luke wants to prompt debate in the clarity about how we can best prepare for the possible scenarios around Brexit.
