Commenting on the far-right terror attack in New Zealand where at least 49 Muslims were murdered praying in a Mosque, Luke Pollard MP said:

“I am sickened and deeply saddened by the cold blooded terrorist attack in Christchurch that saw innocent Muslims murdered at their Mosque. This was a premeditated white supremacist, far-right terrorist attack and we must call it out for what it is. There is no place for hate in our society.

Plymouth stands with the victims, their loved ones and we send our thoughts and prayers to everyone in New Zealand. The horror that we woke to today shocks us all. An attack on any part of our community is attack on all of our community. This is another reminder that far-right hate is on the rise around the world. We all must redouble our efforts to challenge hate in society and bring each other together.

In Plymouth I am sending a message of support to our city’s Muslim citizens. You are a proud part of our city and we stand with you. Diversity will always make us stronger and everyone should be free to worship in peace, free from fear or violence. We will defeat this hate together and we will never, ever let those who want to divide us succeed.”
