Commenting on the knife amnesty being run by Devon and Cornwall Police from 11-17 March, Luke Pollard MP said:

“Knife crime is ruining lives. No good will come from carrying a knife and I want to encourage all those people who carry knifes in public, especially the most dangerous, to give them up in this amnesty. Let’s take knives off our streets and make all our communities safer.”

“Far too many lives are being ruined by increasing violence and knife crime. Carrying a knife could end you up in prison, injured or killed. Knife crime is increasing and we all need to do our bit to discourage carrying of knifes and get them off our streets. I want to see the law tightened, more resources made available to the Police and those groups who support local communities. Since 2010 Devon and Cornwall has lost 600 Police Officers. It’s time to hire more Police officers and end the austerity that is causing so much pain in our communities.”
