Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport
- Plymouth schools improve in most recent report
- Luke writes to schools to congratulate pupils and staff on their hard work
- Luke offers to visit local schools to celebrate
Luke recently learned that schools in Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport showed an increase in the proportion of pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics. Even better, 14 out of 28 schools showed an improvement in results!
Luke couldn’t wait to share the news and wrote to local schools to congratulate them on their results:
“I am writing to congratulate you, your staff and the children for your fantastic 2019 Key Stage 2 results for your school which were published on 13 December. These results show an increase in the proportion of pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics when compared to 2018 – a tremendous effort from your pupils!
Since being elected I’ve made the case for the fairer funding we deserve and that campaign continues.
Thank you for all the hard work that you and your staff are doing. It does not go unnoticed and I am very proud of the results you have achieved.”
It is incredible that Plymouth is continuing to thrive in the face of cuts to education. This is all down to the hard work of staff and the determination of the youngest members of the community to do well.
Luke offered to visit the schools he wrote to and is looking forward to congratulating students and teachers in person.
Good luck to all the schools on more success in the next year.
