Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport
- Luke responds to the leaked Catch App Papers
- Condems those responsable
- Demands better treatment for samll scale fishers
Luke was not pleased with the way these fishermen were being treated, as the shadow enviormental secretary and MP for a city on the coast, he cares very deeply for fishermen. The following is what he had to say on the issue:
“Instead of hiding behind officials, it should have been Ministers who stepped up and apologised for the insulting language used about fishers. Leaving it to others to do raises questions about what lessons Ministers are taking from this sorry episode. The government must immediately launch an investigation into how this was allowed onto the website, how they hired contractors who did the work, and how this was approved. The catch recording app for our fishers is a multi-million pound project that has been mis-managed at every turn. The government needs to listen to our fishing communities and #ScrapTheApp.”
