- Luke calls for one minute’s silence for coronavirus victims
- He joins the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives in calling for mark of respect
Luke has joined the Labour leader Keir Starmer in calling for one minute’s silence to be observed, to honour all the workers who have tragically died from Coronavrius.
This follows calls from Unison, the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives, who represent many of the medical staff treating COVID-19 patients, often putting themselves in harm’s way because of a lack of PPE.
Luke Pollard said:
“The key workers who are keeping us safe, cared for and fed are demonstrating the Janner spirit. The whole city stands in support of them and their work. Thank you. Sadly, many of those key workers have died from Coronavirus and it is right and proper that we take a moment to remember them and their dedication. I strongly support proposals for a minute’s silence for those who have died from Coronavirus. Our NHS staff and other key workers are putting their lives on the line to help others suffering from this horrible disease and it is right that we remember them.”
