Luke Pollard has warned people in Plymouth not to follow the advice of President Donald Trump and use disinfectant to try to fight or prevent Coronavirus. The US President made the suggestion in his latest press conference.

Luke Pollard said:

“Under no circumstances should you try to clean your insides using bleach or disinfectant. This sounds very obvious but when someone in a position of authority makes wild statements like this there will inevitably be people who believe him and try it themselves. Disinfectants and bleaches are very harmful and should not be ingested or injected under any circumstances. Please, please, please do not inject disinfectants into yourself or any member of your family to try and fight Covid-19. Instead, you should follow the advice of medical professionals if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus.”

All bleach and disinfectants should be used as on the product guidelines and should never be injected or ingested. Most products also give guidance on what to do if the product comes into contact with human skin or eyes. Please read and follow guidelines accordingly. If you suspect someone has tried to follow President Trump’s advice please contact medical help immediately as ingesting bleach or disinfectant can be lethal.
