Luke's letter on pollution barriers

Luke Pollard, the MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, is hoping to see a push to improve the air quality in the UK and help improve the health of the nation. Pollution barriers are a great way to help with this, especially given they are shown to dramatically reduce the amounts of harmful pollutants. Luke pointed out in his letter to the Secretary of State that the A38 is a major road in Plymouth, and one that needs measures to help reduce pollutants and keep the air in Plymouth clean and safe.

Luke thinks a pollution barrier along the A38 would be a significant start in protecting the people of Plymouth from harmful pollutants and a great way to protect environmental diversity within Plymouth.

Luke Pollard MP had this to say:

“Plymouth needs effective pollution barriers to protect people and the area we live in, and the government needs to start taking dealing with pollutants seriously.”

“Highways England must focus on a new tree planting strategy based on the science, and to fix the many parts of England’s road network that already exceed the limits of how much harmful pollutants they can cause.”

“Our environment is incredibly important, and improving the health of the nation works in lockstep with protecting the environment to the best of our abilities.”
