Luke Pollard appeared on ITV’s ‘West Country Politics’ on Thursday (21 January 2021), alongside Conservative Environment Minister Rebecca Pow.

Luke challenged Ms Pow on the Conservatives’ plan to lift the ban on bee-killing pesticides, which Ms Pow repeatedly refused to address.

Unlike Ms Pow, Luke does not view lifting the ban on bee-killing pesticides as merely “an aside”. The move will kill countless bees and pollinators, which will subsequently negatively affect Britain’s crops and flowers. Bee-health is non-negotiable.

The lifting of the ban is a worrying sign that the Conservatives plan to rollback on other hard-won environmental gains.

At a time of climate emergency, and as the host of COP26, the UK Government should be ensuring it is doing all it can to protect our environment. Instead, it is putting it at risk.
