As Shadow Environment Secretary, and formerly Shadow Fisheries Minister, Luke is very passionate about protecting the fishing industry and helping fishers overcome the challenges that are currently being thrown at them.

This Friday, Luke will be holding a ‘Lunch with Luke’ virtual roundtable with local stakeholders in the Plymouth fishing industry, where he is keen to discuss the following issues:

  • Fishing and consequences of the Government’s Brexit deal
  • Exporting
  • Promoting local fish
  • How we can invest in Plymouth’s fishing sector
  • Fishing boat safety
  • How fishing can be made more popular for young people

Luke wants to meet to discuss how local organisations have been handling these issues and find out how he might be able to help through his work in Parliament.

Having already hosted physical round tables called ‘Pastries & Politics’ prior to the pandemic on a range of topics including cycling, tourism and mental health, ‘Lunch with Luke’ is designed to remotely bring together interested stakeholders to discuss, debate and share ideas on a host of subjects that are important to Plymouth.

Lunch with Luke: Fishing will be taking place this Friday26 Marchfrom 12pm – 1pm.

If you are active in the local fishing industry and would like to attend, please email luke.pollard.mp@parliament.uk as soon as possible.
