Sky Ocean rescue
Sky Ocean rescue's ice cream van.

Luke Pollard MP was invited to visit Sky Ocean Rescue and WWF’s zero emissions ice cream e-van in Westminster last Wednesday.

The ice cream van is a project aimed at raising awareness for World Ocean Day, which takes place today, and many other Labour MPs have joined Luke in becoming an #OceanHero by supporting the campaign. Luke was pleased to join the WWF in calling for a commitment from the Government to ocean recovery to mark this year’s World Ocean Day, to set our seas on the path to health ahead of COP26, and achieve recovery by 2030.

Luke Pollard MP said:

“Raising awareness of World Ocean Day is something I like to do every year, and I’m even happier to do so if it involves visiting an ice cream van!

“I’m a big fan of the work Sky Ocean Rescue and the WWF are doing in calling for a proper UK ocean recovery strategy. They’ve come up with some fantastic policies around blue finance, restoring our lost and damaged coastal ecosystems, and fighting climate change to halt ocean decline.”

There is a host of different activities for World Ocean Day today, including a Westminster Hall debate in parliament. Go to https://worldoceanday.org/ to find out what events are happening near you, and you can tweet your support for this campaign by using the hashtag #OceanHero.
