Residents have expressed their concern after racist leaflets have been distributed in Peverell. On Friday (April 1), a video was posted of Councillor Jeremy Goslin and local residents confronting two people who had been seen posting leaflets from the right-wing group “Patriotic Alternative.” The leaflets were peddling known racist propaganda and falsities about the ethnic make up of the UK. Reports have also come in of similar leaflets being dropped in Sutton and Mount Gould in the city centre.

In the video, Cllr Goslin told the two men, “This is racist filth. You shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t be peddling this.”

Luke Pollard, the MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport said:

“It is incredibly concerning to see these disgusting racist leaflets being handed out in Plymouth. I’m proud of how welcoming and diverse our community is. Our diversity is our strength.

“My message to those pedalling hate is clear: you’re not welcome in Plymouth.”

Peverell Councillor, Jeremy Goslin said:

“These cowards are exploiting infighting and chaos within local Conservative ranks, coming to our city to create division with an abhorrent racist agenda. There is no place for this, and it needs challenging at every turn.”

Sutton and Mount Gould Ward Councillor Mary Aspinall said:

“We live side by side  in diverse multicultural  communities. Plymouth is an inclusive  welcoming city and there is no place for any message that  is racist and looks to create division. This  racist leaflet has no place in our city and anybody promoting this  should be called out and challenged”
