Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport

Earlier this year, Luke Pollard launched a campaign for Devil’s Point to become an official bathing water.
Having presented a petition to Parliament, he has since been working with the Environment Agency and Plymouth City Council to submit a formal application to DEFRA.
Luke says,
“We need to prove to the government how popular the area is. I’m looking for local volunteers to help count the number of people on the beach, swimming in the bay and kayaking/paddleboarding. All it takes is a simple tally. We’ll be out at different times throughout June and it can fit around your availability.
Together we should be able to collect more than enough data to get Devil’s Point the designation it deserves. That would trigger regular water quality testing, to give us the peace of mind that the area is safe to swim in.
Join me for a Zoom meeting at 6pm on Tuesday 24th May, where I will be outlining the plan for volunteers. You can email me to request a joining link: luke.pollard.mp@parliament.uk”
