I don’t think Liz Truss is on your side. She is the fourth Tory Prime Minister in 12 years. Each one has progressively got worse, dragging our economy down and increasing waiting lists in the NHS.

Liz Truss should now immediately adopt Labour’s plan to freeze energy bills. People are scared and I simply cannot see how tax cuts for the rich are the priority when she should be freezing bills for everyone.

During the leadership campaign Liz Truss proposed cutting wages for people in the public sector outside London. She dropped the policy almost immediately but we can see where her instincts are. She is not on your side.

I want to see the South West get our fair share of funding and I’ll be writing to the new PM to urge her to deliver what every Tory Prime Minister since 2010 has failed to do. I’m not going to hold my breath.

There’s one way Britain can have a fresh start and that is with a General Election. Bring it on. Because Britain deserves better than Liz Truss and the Conservatives.
