Raw sewage pollution is a huge issue in the South West. The region’s water firm, South West Water, is responsible for having dumped 350,000 hours of raw sewage into the rivers and seas around the South West. They’ve just been handed a one star rating by the Environment Agency, and a third of their sewage monitors do not work, according to the Environment Agency.

Meanwhile, executive pay in the company is up, dividends are up, and they have issued a special dividend to reward shareholders with even more money.

Today in the House of Commons I called on South West Water to publish a full list of each and every raw sewage outlet that they are intending to close, so bill payers in the South West can look at what they are intending to do and how it’s going to close.

We have to continue holding failing water companies like South West Water to account, just as we’ll hold the Tory government to account for their failure for fast action at the next election.
