Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport
Today’s Budget changes little for working families in Plymouth who are continuing to pay the price for thirteen years of Conservative management of the economy.”
“Giving the only permanent tax cut in the Budget to the richest 1% shows how out of touch the Conservative’s economic priorities are. People in Plymouth continue to worry each month about being able to afford their bills, but the Conservatives are more interested in dressing up stagnation as stability and acting as if the cost-of-living crisis is already over.
“The Government also continues to pay lip service to levelling up the country while continuing to ignore the South West. Of the twelve newly announced investment zones, the nearest is over 250 miles away from Plymouth – showing how little the Conservatives care about the South West.
“Plymouth deserves better than yet another Tory Budget of sticking plasters. A Labour Government would realise Britain’s huge economic potential by creating good jobs, wealth and sustained growth across every part of the country – making everyone better off, not just the wealthy few.”
