Dartmoor National Park.

It was great to speak in the Farming on Dartmoor debate yesterday! Dartmoor is on Plymouth’s doorstep and many from our community visit regularly. I have concerns whether current regulations and changes implemented by the government are capable of enabling Dartmoor to thrive and flourish.

We need to see significant improvements and I look forward to seeing the outcome from the governments appointment of an independent reviewer on the matter. The response from Natural England has not been as good as many of us would have hoped. We need to see sustainable change. Currently farmers are having to navigate complex regulation processes and people have been denied the right to roam.

Nature is for everyone. The more people feel connected to nature the more they will be prepared to fight for it. If Labour wins the next general election we would reinstate the right to roam.
