Good news for Plymouth’s sea swimmers.

Work is now complete to shut off two sewage pipes that have been pumping waste into Devil’s Point and Firestone Bay for years.

I brokered a deal with South West Water and residents last year to connect these private sewers to the wastewater network in Royal William Yard. I am glad to announce that South West Water has now completed that work.

After winning the campaign to designate Devil’s Point as an official bathing water, I turned my attention to stopping the sewage discharges into this now protected piece of water.

As a keen swimmer at Devil’s Point, I don’t just talk about stopping sewage discharges – I am proud to take action on it. This news shows what can be achieved when we work together.
