Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport

This afternoon I was pleased to be at Tops Nursery in Stonehouse to meet apprentices and see how their apprenticeship schemes are making a positive difference to their lives.
It was also great to speak with Paula Bone, NVQ Assessor at Tops Nursery, about the wider positive impact that apprenticeships are having on Plymouth and the country.
Apprenticeships are at the forefront of this Labour Government’s education policy; our policy of a Skills Guarantee for all adults aged 18-21 will increase the number of people taking up apprenticeships and ensuring skills gaps in our workforce are addressed in part by more people completing apprenticeships in various sectors.
Plymouth has a strong presence of engineering and infrastructure apprenticeships because of the nature of our city, but there is an apprenticeship scheme in every single sector.
