Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport
Last week, during a protest outside my constituency office, a protestor managed to gain entry and intimidate members of my staff.
I take the safety of my team very seriously, and I am unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing.
I’m proud that my office is located on the high street, making it easily accessible for constituents seeking help. However, as a precautionary measure, I will be temporarily pausing our usual drop-in sessions this week and next while we review and strengthen our security arrangements to ensure the safety of both staff and constituents.
No one should feel threatened or unsafe at work. Every day, my team supports people facing incredibly difficult circumstances, going through issues like homelessness, domestic abuse, poverty, and serious health challenges. I want to ensure that they can continue this vital work in a safe and secure environment.
I fully respect the right to protest and have consistently voted to protect it. All I ask is that my staff are allowed to carry out their work without fear or intimidation.
