Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport
In Parliament today, Luke asked the Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, to show some urgency in recycling disused nuclear submarines in Devonport dockyard.
There are thirteen disused submarines in the dockyard. Recycling them would free up space for new serving submarines, therefore boosting the UK’s defence capabilities. The project would also create new jobs in Plymouth, as well as benefitting the environment.
Luke has a strong record on defence. His first ever Private Member’s Bill, introduced in 2019, called on the government to recycle disused nuclear submarines.
