Commenting on the government’s announcement that Coronavirus lockdown measures will continue for another three weeks, Luke Pollard MP said:

“People in Plymouth back the lockdown to slow the spread of the virus and save lives. But the extended period of lockdown will continue to cause concern for businesses and those struggling to make ends meet. The government has moved on some areas, but there are far too many people and businesses in Plymouth that still need assistance. Extending the lockdown will be supported by people in Plymouth but it underlines the need for a proper plan for how the Government sees the country exiting lockdown. That must especially include how regions like the South West get the support we need. We need to see an exit strategy.”

“I want to thank everyone in Plymouth who is contributing on the frontline, from those in our NHS and social care services, to those in supermarkets and our armed forces. I want to thank those people who are also staying at home to protect lives and slow the spread of the virus.”
