Luke asks a question on the situation in Ukraine

In the Commons this week, Luke made the case for supporting our allies in Ukraine who are facing invasion by Russian forces. Part of Ukraine has already been illegally invaded by the forces of President Putin and occupied.

Luke is a strong supporter of a strong defence and that means supporting our allies. In Luke’s question he made the case for support for not only Ukraine, but for our NATO allies in the Baltic States that are also facing threats from Russia.

Luke said:

“There is a united front from all the main parties in Britain that Russia must not invade Ukraine. If they do the UK Government has warned they face ‘catastrophic consequences.’ As Devonport’s MP I am very aware of the sacrifice of British service personnel to defend freedom and democracy in two world wars and since. I do not want to see war in Ukraine and believe that President Putin must back down and stop threatening this independent democracy. I will be keeping a close watch on developments in Ukraine and also will continue to push for a strong and robust defence of our NATO allies in the Baltic.”
