Luke has emphasised his solidarity with the people of Ukraine following Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of the country.

Speaking to BBC Spotlight on 24th February, Luke stressed that the UK needs to put in place the strongest possible set of sanctions against the Kremlin and the oligarchs that keep Putin in power. He also stressed the need to address the dirty Russian money that runs through the City of London and British politics.

Luke said:

Russia has launched a full-scale invasion of a sovereign and democratic country. The consequences for Putin and Russia must be severe, significant and swift. I’m thinking about all those fighting for their freedom today. Plymouth stands with Ukraine.
