Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport

Today, Ofgem has announced an energy price cap rise that almost triples bills since last winter.
The eye-watering rise to £3,549 for typical household energy bills will be devastating for families across Plymouth. Many are understandably worried about how they’ll get through the winter after today’s announcement.
While the government is missing in action and the two Tory leadership contenders are busy taking chunks out of each other, Labour is proposing the serious help people need to get through this winter by freezing people’s energy bills.
It is a fully costed plan that means people won’t pay a penny more this winter.
The cost of living crisis is a national emergency and we need to see bold action to help support people through the tough months ahead of us.
