This morning I spoke to BBC Radio Devon about the experience of helping Afghans fleeing the Taliban. The last flight left Kabul a year ago today. As an office my Parliamentary team have helped 18 school kids get home to Plymouth, working with 100 families, but many more are still left behind.
Britain made promises to those who worked with our military in Afghanistan to get them to safety. In too many cases, that has not happened.
I’m working closely with the Afghan community in Plymouth to help secure family reunions and push their applications through a Home Office system that is slow, cumbersome and unkind. Afghans in Plymouth have been abandoned by the Government. They deserve better.
