Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport

I am very concerned about the implications of last week’s decision in the High Court on wild camping on Dartmoor.
Camping under the skies on Dartmoor marked our National Park out. It helped fulfil our ancient right of access. I want more access to nature, not less.
This judgement needs to be a call to arms to protect and extend the right of roam, including restoring properly the right to wild camp on Dartmoor. While we wait to see if the National Park will appeal this judgement, I want us to value the National Park and organise to restore this lost right.
Our National Parks should be open to all. Labour will expand the right to roam as part of our programme for Government so cherished spaces like Dartmoor are protected for everyone.
