Today Labour leader, Keir Starmer, pledged to run a ‘patriotic economy’ and highlighted Labour’s plans to deliver ”a future built in Britain, by Britain, for Britain.”

Keir set out Labour’s plans for housing:

• ‘Get Britain Building’ – Turbocharge housebuilding
• ‘Get Britain Buying’ – The rock of economic stability
• ‘Get Britain Living’ – A fair deal for renters, leaseholders and more affordable homes

The last few years have seen a huge drop in living standards across the UK, and real wages have stagnated. In Plymouth, there are many people suffering as a result of this.

Over the last 14 years, inward investment has been strangled, British workers will be undercut and British businesses have been undermined.

I am supporting Labour’s plans because I know they will bring significant change to the lives of many in our city.

Our plan will put pounds back in the pockets of British workers and give British people a greater stake in our economy.

Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party said:

The Conservative Party’s economic choices run completely against those values. Meanwhile, their promises on levelling up are empty. The Tories aren’t just betting the house, they’re betting yours.
