An Incinerator for Ivybridge and Lee Mill?

Waste company, Viridor, is proposing to build a large waste to energy incinerator at New England Quarry just south of Lee Mill and close to Ivybridge. Although we believe that there is a requirement for an incinerator in the south of Devon we believe that this is the wrong location. We also believe that local people have not been given enough information about Viridor’s plans.

Where is the Plymstock Pool?
21 years ago the Tories first started promising voters in Plymstock that if they won control of the Council they would build a swimming pool in Plymstock. 21 years later the Tories have still not delivered a swimming pool in Plymstock. Labour is calling on Cllr Pengelly, the Tory Leader of the Council and a Plymstock Councillor, to deliver a pool. No more delays, come clean about whether you are going to build a pool or not.

Save Plymouth CityBus

Labour opposed plans by the Conservative Council to sell Plymouth CityBus. Ou campaign began by asking the Tory Council to consult local people about the plans, then we challenged them to put the decision out to scrutiny, then we submitted a petition with the Unite trade union of 25,000 names asking them to stop the sale. The Tories ignored all of these and in November voted through the sale of CityBus. The campaign continues though. We now must work with the new owner to ensure that routes are not cut, jobs are not lost and fares do not increase as a result of this sale.

Potholes
Have you noticed how Plymouth’s roads and pavements are getting worse and worse? SW Devon’s roads are potholed and increasingly dangerous for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. I’m working with the Labour group on Plymouth City Council to ask why the Tory Council isn’t filling in more of our roads potholes? It is their job to do this afterall.
Coypool Gypsy & Travellers Site
Labour opposes plans by the Tory Council to build a Gypsy and Travellers site in a residential area at Coypool. Labour first raised the issue with the local community before the Tory Council communicated with local people. We believe the Council has overlooked better sites and has failed to consult local people properly.
