Yesterday was Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to memoralise all of those who have been murdered by transphobia and draw attention to the continued violence the transgender community faces.

To mark the day and raise awareness to this important issue, Luke met with Amber and Erin from Not Alone to discuss why this day started and why it is so important.

Luke said:

“Today is Trans Remembrance Day, a day not just for remembering those no longer with us, but also the rough journey the trans community has had to take. As a proud member of Plymouth’s LGBT community, it is crucial that we continue to campaign for trans rights and also encourage people to take violent acts against trans people seriously. Within the past 12 months, 325 trans people worldwide have been killed due to violent acts against them. This is completely unacceptable.”
