Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport

This has been a tricky year for all of us. But what has really shone through in these difficult times is Plymouth’s sense of community, and willingness to look out for one another. In that spirit, Luke has put together a list of charities based in Plymouth and the South West that do some amazing work here, and could really do with your help this Christmas. If you have a few pounds spare, that would make a massive difference to these brilliant charities.
Trevi House
Trevi is a nationally award-winning women’s and children’s charity based in South West England. They provide safe and nurturing spaces for women in recovery to heal, grow and thrive.
This Christmas, Trevi is calling for your support to help create special memories between children their mothers at their Jasmine Mother’s Recovery centre.

Jeremiah’s Journey
A Plymouth based charity that offers support to children, young people and families who are suffering from bereavement.
Jeremiah’s Journey has seen a significant increase both in the volume and complexity of its casework. This was putting strain on the budget even before the Covid-19 crisis. which has led to the cancellation of events in our fund-raising programme The charity needs to raise £25,000 pm just to maintain its current work plus more to expand and meet the growing need. Your donation, however big or small, is important to us and to the children and families you help us to support.
Christmas can be a really difficult time for bereaved families. Here are a few ideas that we discuss with the children and young people under our support about how they can remember their loved ones over the festive period, that we hope will help you too! https://t.co/fWd3kqsUjn

PATH
Where we can, PATH address people’s financial needs through mainstream means, such as maximising benefits, support with budgeting and debt advice. But, in some cases, options are limited and a small financial donation for a specific purpose may enable a client to better look after themselves, utilise other services or just survive a weekend. That’s when their Hardship Fund is most useful.
For the most financially vulnerable people, access to money for short term needs – such as food, clothing, electricity, bus travel to a medical appointment, or replacing basic items – can make a huge difference.
Last week our Rough Sleeper team saw 13 people out in Plymouth. 1 had accommodation; we reconnected 1 to an area they've got support; & 2 moved into our temporary accommodation
