Luke's Zoom Brexit Meeting 29/12/2020

In the 2017 General Election Luke promised that he would hold an open public meeting to hear from the people he represents before he voted on Brexit. Over the past three years Luke has held public meetings in the Guildhall attended by hundreds of people.

The virus and the last minute nature of this deal means a meeting in person is not possible. Instead, Luke held a special Zoom meeting that was live-streamed to his Facebook page.

Luke said:

“The deal the Prime Minister has agreed with the EU is a poor deal. It is thin and will make us all poorer. MPs are being asked to vote on this deal with only two days left before the UK leaves the Brexit transition period. Unlike the previous big votes on Brexit there are only two choices here: vote for a deal that is poor or vote against or abstain supporting no deal. I wanted to hear the views of people I represented before I voted. I am grateful for all the people who joined the meeting on Zoom or watched and contributed on Facebook.”
