Teacher teaching through a computer screen
Teacher teaching through a computer screen

Each month Luke holds virtual ’roundtable’ discussions with different communities in the constituency he represents in order to find out the current issues they are facing, and what he can do to support them.

The focus of the next discussion will be on teachers, teaching assistants, school staff and how Luke can better argue the case for these professions to Government in light of the latest lockdown. Whilst Luke supported the closure of schools as a last resort due to the climbing infection rate, he is conscious there is much more to be done and is keen to hear views on how he can support local teaching staff.

This will be taking place on Friday 26 February, from 4-5pm, by which time Luke hopes that we will all have more knowledge on where the lockdown restrictions are, how the vaccination rate has climbed and what additional support will needed to help our young people catch up on the missed educational opportunities from lockdown.

Luke has invited headteachers from across Plymouth Sutton and Devonport to the discussion, as well as representatives from Plymouth City Council.

If you are a headteacher in the constituency and haven’t had an invitation, please get in touch at luke.pollard.mp@parliament.uk.
