Luke with Fleur Anderson supporting the bill to ban plastics in wet wipes

The Plastics (Wet Wipes) Bill was presented by Labour MP from Putney, Fleur Anderson. The bill would ban the use of plastics in wet wipes and is an important step towards the elimination of single use plastics. The bill is receiving cross-party as well as from conservation groups and water companies. The aim is to prevent plastics from wet wipes entering into the marine habitat and break down into microplastics. This causes backups in sewage, devastation of climates, the endangerment of many species, and ends up working its way into the food chain. The bill is meant to create a transition to continue to make these household goods available for families, while ensuring they are safe for the environment.

Luke has been passionate about this issue and recently said this on Twitter after speaking with Fleur:

“I’ll be supporting Fleur Anderson MP‘s bill to #banplasticinwetwipes and stop endangering 700 species of birds and fish in our rivers and oceans #COP26″

The bill will be up for a second reading later in November.
