Luke leant his support to calls for Plymouth City Council to improve lighting in Plymouth’s public parks – an important measure to help address the epidemic of violence against women and girls.

The campaign for better lighting has been organised by Charlotte Holloway, Labour candidate for Drake Ward.

Charlotte said:

If you want to walk the dog, go running, or cross the park to get home or to local places like the Life Centre we are faced with completely unlit or poorly lit paths. There’s much more that needs to be done to keep women and girls safe in Plymouth beyond park lighting, but this is a clear area that can make a difference NOW. The new VAWG commission [announced by Plymouth City Council] won’t report for months – many women want to see action from city leaders now.
