Clean Our Patch
Clean Our Patch's school programme in action

Luke has congratulated Clean Our Patch, a litter-picking group in Plymouth, on a £12,000 grant they have received from Great Western Rail.

Clean Our Patch was set up in 2018 to help communities across Plymouth and the South Hams to keep clean. Since then, it has collected more than 29,000 bags of litter from across the city and set up an educational programme with twelve local schools.

The group says that the grant will help them engage with twelve further schools by June of this year, and up to 104 schools in Plymouth by 2026. It will also enable them to ramp up its litter-picking operation around Plymouth’s train stations and depots.

Luke said:

Clean Our Patch do such fantastic work across Plymouth, collecting thousands of bags of rubbish. This grant from GWR will allow them to roll out their programme to even more schools in our city.

Everyone wants to see cleaner streets, and it’s great to see GWR encouraging community pride in Plymothians from a young age.”
