Dartmoor National Park will have the backing of thousands across the South West in its decision to appeal the recent High Court judgement on wild camping.

The right to wild camp under the stars on Dartmoor is part of our ancient inheritance. If the courts can’t protect this right then Parliament will need to reaffirm it and lock it into law.

Labour will extend the right to roam after the next election, but the Conservatives could do it today if they wanted to.

You can read more here about how the next Labour government will pass a right to roam act to reverse the Dartmoor ban: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/27/labour-government-would-pass-right-to-roam-act-and-reverse-dartmoor-ban

I joined the Right to Roam protest in Cornwood on Dartmoor last weekend. Hundreds of people filled the village in unison to protest efforts to take away our historic right to wild camp at Dartmoor. Let’s keep the pressure on.
