The Tories are failing Plymouth on dentistry. At a time when nearly 22,000 people in Plymouth are on dental waiting lists, it is scandalous that up to £9 million set aside for NHS dental care in Plymouth is being left unspent.

To add insult to injury, this failing Conservative government are insisting the underspend on dentistry should be sent back to them, instead of spending the money on recruiting NHS dentists for practices.

The Dental Taskforce convened by Plymouth City Council is a good start in tackling the growing dental crisis in our city, but Ministers need to do far more to ensure money earmarked to improve NHS dentistry in Plymouth actually gets spent.

Some of our city’s MPs have only realised dentistry is an issue as the General Election approaches. I’ve been campaigning for proper dental care since I was elected in 2017 – and I won’t stop until we get better dental services for our city.
